Political associates of former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko have officially decamped from the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the November 16 Governorship Election.
Governor Aiyedatiwa while receiving the defectors at the APC secretariat in Akure,the state capital on Wednesday said the coming of the new members has added more strength to the party.
Mimiko’s political loyalists who announced their defection include former federal and state lawmakers, commissioners and other appointees who with their supporters besieged the APC to declare declare support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, his deputy,Olayide Adelami, APC state chairman, Ade Adetimehin and other state party executive members welcomed the decampees.
Aiyedatiwa said the decampees joined the APC at the right time.
The APC also welcomed some defecting candidates who contested the 2023 General Election on the platform of the Labour party to its fold.
