Following the announcement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidates as winners of all the sixteen local government areas Chairmanship Seats and all the 193 Wards Councillorship seats by the Chairman, Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC), Mohammed Baba-Okanla, members of the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have trooped out in their numbers to protest alleged irregularities they claimed surrounded the process of the elections.

Leading the protest at the KWSIEC office, PDP Chieftain, Sarat Ibrahim and others maintained that the election was won by the PDP but was allegedly altered to favour the ruling party a move they say is unacceptable

That was the mood of protesting members of the main opposition party PDP in Kwara state shortly after the announcement of the local government election results by the Chairman, Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC), Mohammed Baba-Okanla declaring that all the chairmanship and councillorship seats are won by the All Progressives Congress.

The controversies also continued at Offa local government PDP Secretariat where the party candidate, Lukman Salahudeen also reacted angrily to the development insisting that no election took place in the local government while the APC candidate Suleiman Olatunji says there was election where he emerged winner.

Meanwhile the sixteen local government Chairmen and 193 Councilors have been sworn-in by the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq with full zeal to man their respective local councils.

The expectation of residents of the state are however high as they say they cannot wait to enjoy the dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
