Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu

A new era of progress dawns on the Cross River State lush landscape as the government launched a high technology system for its land management and urban development.

Governor Bassey Otu on Monday commissioned the Continuous Operating Reference Stations (CORS), a cutting-edge technology designed to transform land management and urban development with pinpoint accuracy.

The Continuous Operating Reference Stations (CORS), a sophisticated network of Global Navigation Satellite System Receivers, provides real-time and precise data, crucial for positioning and navigation.

The deployment of this technology is set to drastically reduce errors in land mapping, improve the accuracy of spatial data, and streamline development processes.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Peter Odey, at an event held in Calabar, Governor Otu highlighted the significance of the project, describing it as a bold initiative to harness cutting-edge technology for the State’s growth.

In his address, the Surveyor General of the State, Patrick Bassey, noted that this system would transform how land was previously managed and developed in the State, by providing accurate, reliable, and consistent data for both governmental and commercial use.

Presently, two operational CORS centers have been established at Calabar and Ikom, with plans underway to establish a third center in the northern region of the State.
