Senate Advances Bill for Legal Recognition of 18 Police Institutions

The Senate has passed a Bill to provide legal backing for 18 Police training institutions established through administrative directives.

Sponsored by Senator Ahmed Madori, the proposed legislation aims to create a comprehensive legal and institutional framework for Nigeria Police Force Training Institutions, enabling them to deliver specialized trainings relevant to policing and law enforcement.

According to Senator Madori, the initiative responds to the urgent need to reform and professionalize the Police Force, enhancing its ability to tackle the evolving security challenges in the country.

The institutions include;

  1. Police School of Intelligence, Ilorin, Kwara State
  2. Mounted Troop, Jos, Plateau State
  3. Mobile Training School, Gwoza, Borno State
  4. Mobile Training School, Ila-Oragun, Osun State
  5. Mobile Training School, Ende-Hill, Nasarawa State
  6. K9 Training School, Bukuru-Jos, Plateau State
  7. School of Counter Terrorism, Nonwa-Tai-Port Harcourt, Rivers State
  8. Technical Operations Training School, Gombe, Gombe State
  9. School of Communication, Kaduna, Kaduna State
  10. School of Communication, Ikeja, Lagos State
  11. School of Music, Ikeja, Lagos State
  12. Police Driving School, Ikeja, Lagos State
  13. Central Planning and Training Unit (CPTU), Jos, Plateau State
  14. Police Institute of Technology, Abeokuta, Ogun State
  15. Police Public Relations School, Abuja-FCT
  16. Police School of Communication, Lagos State
  17. EOD International Training School, Maiduguri, Borno State
  18. Police Short Service Training Institute, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
