Zamfara government says no child will be left out in polio vaccination

Zamfara State Government says it will ensure no child is left out in the ongoing polio vaccination campaign to maintain and sustain its current status of not having a single polio case in the past year.

The State Commissioner For Health, Aisha Anka, stated this while supervising the vaccination exercise in Gusau and Bungudu Local Government Areas of the State to ensure women bring out their children to receive the vaccine.

According to the State Government, health is the right of every citizen hence, it is poised to improve the quality of health of the residents, especially women and children.

The commissioner said the Dauda Lawal administration is committed to the well-being of the residents and this informed the robust campaign on polio vaccination and support to the health sector.

Director of Disease Control in the ministry, Yusuf Haske and the Director of immunization in the Primary Healthcare Board, Mustapha Aliyu, explained that there is a house- to-house and Special teams who take the polio vaccination campaign to religious centres and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

They also said the campaign targets every eligible child, and for Polio vaccination, a child of five years and routine immunization from zero to fifteen months, the vaccination is also against measles, Diphtheria, meningitis and tetanus, among others.

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal had declared a State of Emergency in the health sector to reposition it and improve the health status of residents.
