Edo State Deputy Governor Phillip Shaibu says he is embarking on a comprehensive inspection of state projects, as the current administration, led by Governor Godwin Obaseki, approaches the end of its tenure in six weeks time.
During the first day of his project inspections, Shaibu visited the Radisson Hotel in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), as well as the Edo Museum of West African Art (EMOWAA) and the reconstruction of roads and underground drainage systems leading to the Edo State Police Command in Benin City. He emphasized the importance of these inspections for accurate project profiling ahead of the new government taking office on November 12, 2024.
Shaibu inspected the progress of the work and urged contractors to adhere strictly to specifications and timelines.
Philip Shaibu has been at loggerheads with governor Obaseki in the build up to the state governorship election which lead to his brief impeachment that was later nullified by the court. Currently, the deputy governor and governor belong to opposing political parties: the APC and the PDP respectively.
