Cross River State Rolls Out Strategic Tax Collection Initiative To Boost Revenue

The Cross River State Government has taken decisive steps to boost its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), with Governor Bassey Otu tasking the State Internal Revenue Board to deliver significant results.

At a two-day induction workshop in Calabar, the Governor laid out the strategic vision for driving revenue growth.

Governor Bassey Otu called on members of the Cross River Board of Internal Revenue Service, to step up efforts at increasing the State’s revenue profile.

Represented by his deputy, Peter Odey, the Governor stressed that his administration was committed to transforming its financial landscape through effective tax collection.

Executive Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Edwin Okon, reinforced the need for Board members to be fully prepared for the immense task ahead, highlighting that the workshop was just the first step in equipping them to deliver exceptional results.

Facilitators at the workshop, Chukwuemeka Eze, Eyo Itam and Essien Ukorebi, called for simplified taxation processes to ensure accessibility for all citizens.

The workshop marks a pivotal moment in Cross River State’s push to enhance its IGR through innovation, professionalism, and strategic tax collection.
