President Bola Tinubu has trasmitted a circular through the national salaries, incomes, and wages commission to the accountantant general’s office, for the payment of thirty-two thousand naira national minimum pensions as well as a five-year pensions review period.

This was revealed by the national president of the Nigeria union of pensioners, NUP Godwin Abumisi, at the commemoration of the National Day for Pensioners on October 5, which concedes with the international day for older persons.

The pensioners’ body, however, bemoans the government for the numerous policies, which they say have become unfriendly, as some continue to put them under dehumanising conditions due to unbearable hardship

The theme of the 2024 pensioners day is “The unresolved economic hardship in Nigeria and its impact on pensioners”
