The Federal Government has tasked the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, NITT to advance research in electric vehicles, aimed at providing sustainable and green transport solutions tailored to the country’s needs.
The Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, issued this directive during the 2024 NITT Management Retreat and the unveiling of the Institute’s Compressed Natural Gas, CNG conversion and training e-booking system held in Kaduna.
With the theme “Realigning NITT’s Vision with Performance Management System and the Dynamics of the Transport Industry,” the retreat aims to chart a new course for sustainable development and growth in Nigeria’s transport sector.
The Minister described the transport sector as a critical enabler of economic growth, emphasising that NITT must take the lead in transport training, research, and innovation, positioning itself as a leader across Africa.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the NITT CNG Conversion Training e-booking system, marking the Institute’s new role as a centre for converting petrol-powered vehicles to compressed natural gas.
