Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, DICON

The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) has refuted allegations from an online media report claiming certain staff were excluded from the 2024 promotion list due to their involvement in an April 2024 protest.

In a statement issued by Major Haruna Sani, Deputy Director of Information and Media, DICON clarified that promotions and disciplinary matters are handled by civilian Senior and Junior Staff Committees in line with established Public Service Regulations, not the Armed Forces.

The corporation also stressed that staff enrollment in the Integrated Personnel Payroll System (IPPS) falls under the Federal Government’s control, countering claims that DICON was responsible for alleged denials of enrollment.

DICON explained that 46 staff members were excluded from the promotion list due to prior disciplinary actions related to absenteeism and violations of the DICON Act 2023.

Additionally, the management rejected accusations that a fire at the DICON factory in March 2023 was staged to divert attention from staff grievances, calling the claims baseless.

DICON urged its staff to maintain discipline and collaboration as the corporation strives to enhance Nigeria’s Military Industrial Complex.
