Police in Niger Arrest Two Vandals, 3 Others for Trespass

Police in Niger State have arrested 22-year-old Tasiu Danlami and 18-year-old Abba Salisu for alleged vandalism of a Transformer in the Tafa local government area of the state.

In a statement by the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, the duo were arrested by the police operatives of Tafa Division with vigilante members while on routine patrol within the Hayin-Nasarawa area along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

According to the statement, the two suspects attempted to vandalize AEDC transformer cables within the community, which led to the severe injury of Tasiu.

He was taken to Musa Yar’Adua Hospital Sabon-Wuse for treatment, while Abba was taken into custody with an industrial cutting plier.

Similarly, 3 suspects, Aminu Usman, Ibrahim Dauda and Abdulfatai Adebisi, were arrested for breaking into a students’ lodge and stealing valuables such as a laptop, iPhone, trousers, footwear and cosmetics.

Superintendent Abiodun said the operatives of the Bosso Division swung into action, and in the course of the investigation, the three suspects were arrested.

During interrogation, Aminu confessed to the crime and stated that he handed over the laptop to Ibrahim to sell, while Adebisi bought it from Ibrahim at the rate of thirty thousand naira with a part payment of fifteen thousand naira.

However, the iPhone, laptop and a trouser were recovered while the suspects are under investigation in Bosso Division to be arraigned in court soonest.
