Defence Minister Meets Community Leaders On Security Concerns In Plateau State

The Minister of Defence Muhammad Badaru has blamed attacks and reprisals in some parts of Plateau state on the insincerity of some community leaders.

He made this known during an expanded stakeholder meeting with community and religious leaders from Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Wase , Riyom and Mangu local government areas of the state held at the Maxwell Khobe cantonment Rukuba Plateau state.

Muhammad Badaru described as disheartening the spike in attacks in some local Government areas recently, stating that the conflict on the Plateau has lingered for too long and efforts must be intensified to put an end to it.

The General Officer commanding 3 division of the Nigerian Army Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar in his welcome remarks said the Special Task Force Operation Safe Haven has made enormous progress in peace efforts in the state by using non-kinetic strategies like stakeholder engagements.

The meeting later entered a closed session where community and religious leaders had the opportunity to interface with the minister on ways to promote peace in their localities.
Earlier on, the Minister of Defence addressed a combined assembly of troops of the 3 division Nigerian Army and 551 Air Force station Jos where he commended their efforts in bringing lasting peace to the Plateau state.
