Kebbi Gov signs N75,000 minimum wage, payment starts with October salary

KEBBI

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has signed the N75,000 new minimum wage bill for workers in the state into law.


Governor Idris signed the bill on the implementation of the new wage in Birnin Kebbi, witnessed by the National President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero and other executive members of the Congress.


Consequently, he has directed the Commissioner for Finance, the Accountant-General of the state and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to ensure the payment of the new salary within 72 hours.


The government adopted the table presented by NLC and TUC, the suggestion was N72,000, N73,000 and N75,000, the labour movement preferred N75,000 which was accepted by the administration.


NLC President Joe Ajaero, described the signing of the new wage as a ‘special and very happy moment for Labour’
