CROSS RIVER

The Cross River State Government, in collaboration with a U.S.-based organization, has launched a nine-day free medical outreach.

The initiative, which provides a range of surgeries and consultations, has so far seen about one hundred patients undergo various surgical procedures, while close to five thousand patients in total have received medical attention.

The General Hospitals in Calabar and Odukpani have become a beacon of hope for many, as the Cross River State Government, with support from its U.S. partner, rolls out a nine-day free medical outreach.
The state government says the outreach is part of the government’s larger commitment to improving healthcare.

Governor Bassey Otu, represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk, says partnerships like these are key to expanding healthcare access across the state.

Before the outreach began, healthcare workers underwent a two-day training to enhance their skills.

At the heart of this initiative is Dr. Emeka Anyawu, one of the lead physicians performing surgeries who said the initiative is not just about the procedures but about restoring dignity to patients and bringing hope to families.
