Some groups of civil society organisations on thursday staged a peaceful protest in front of the main entrance to the lagos state house of assembly over alleged plans by the state lawmakers to meddle in the affairs of a local government in the state through a controversial local government bill.

The group while calling on the lawmakers to respect recent supreme court ruling on local government autonomy wondered why the state house of assembly would embark on an exercise completely outside its oversight roles.
