World Polio Day: 22, 000 Children In Bauchi Yet To Receive Immunisation-UNICEF

The United Nations Children Emergency Fund UNICEF and other Development partners have performed a street walk in Bauchi Metropolitan city to commemorate the 2024 World Polio day

They say, Over Twenty two thousand (22, 000) Children in Bauchi have not Received routine immunization for Poliomyelitis as outbreaks of circulating Vaccine -derived Poliovirus Continue to persist.

During the Celebrations, the UNICEF chief of Bauchi field office Nuzhat Rafique said every Nigerian child must be immunized against devastating polio and other diseases.

The groups of Developmental partners championing the fight to ensure every child is immunized against Polio and other infectious diseases.want affirmative action to save the innocent children

According to the organizers, the battle against polio is difficult in most challenging environment, but expressed optimism that it is attainable.

In Bauchi state, the United Nations children fund UNICEF, World Health Organisation WHO and other partners together with victims of poliomyelitis embarked on a street walk to celebrate the day and create awareness.

The walk began from the Ministry of Health to major streets, up to the Emir of Bauchi’s palace to ask the Bauchi Emirate council to support and mobilize parents and caregivers to avail their children the opportunity for vaccinations.

Every 24th of October is set aside for the celebrations of the World Polio Day, the theme for this year is “A Global Mission to Reach Every Child,
