Girls learning initiative in Zamfara plans to reduce out-of-school girls number by 40%

Zamfara State coordinator of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project, Sa’adatu Gusau, says the one of the project’s objectives is to create a safe and conducive learning environment with a target to get forty per cent of out of school girls in the state back to school.

Sa’adatu Gusau said this during a Media Roundtable in Gusau, the state capital, where she also rolled out the plans of the project to empower girls educationally to close the gap with their male counterparts in the state.


The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project is a World Bank intervention in collaboration with the Zamfara State Government aimed at providing safe learning space, enrol more girls in schools equipped with digital learning tools and support the less privileged with cash incentives
The Commissioner For Education, Science and Technology, Wadatau Madawaki stressed the importance of having more educated females in any society that intends making the desired socioeconomic progress.
The State Coordinator of the AGILE project Sa’adatu Gusau, in another set of remarks, revealed plans to support four thousand girls with conditional cash transfers, procuring one thousand one hundred desktop computers for secondary schools and train over one hundred teachers
