Nigeria’s Under-20 team the Flying Eagles, successfully defended the WAFU B Under 20 Championship on Wednesday after defeating the Black Satellites of Ghana 2-1 in the final match played in Lome.
After suffering a 0-1 loss to Burkina Faso, in their first match of the championship, the flying Eagles gathered enough courage to turn things around with wins in their final group game against Cote d’ Ivoire and semi final against Niger Republic.
In Wednesday’s final, the Nigerians took their West African neighbours to the cleaners, scoring two goals before the Ghanaians pulled one back.
Wonder kid Kparobo Arierhi, who scored the winning goal against Cote d’Ivoire in the semi final, put Nigeria ahead, scoring two goals to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

The Ghanaians however fought back to reduce the tally but the Flying Eagles were able to hold onto the slim lead till the end of the encounter.
Both teams will now shift their attention to the African U-20 Nations Cup to be staged next year in South Africa.
The Afcon will produce the continent’s representatives in the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
