No fewer than 100 people have reportedly been abducted and taken into the hilly forests after suspected terrorists invaded about seven villages under the Wanke District of Gusau Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.
The suspected terrorists, in their usual manner, came in large numbers on motorcycles, rounded up the communities on Tuesday evening, and abducted the victims into the forest.
Eyewitness accounts said that the attackers stormed the Sabon Layi Community at about 5:30 pm on Tuesday, where they abducted about 50 people.
The sources claimed that the terrorists bore heavy firearms which they fired sporadically before going away with their victims Gira, Amirawa, Ana Ruwa, and Dan Shamaki communities.
Other communities attacked were Nasarawa, Gidan Ango and Kwakwara.
The terrorists also carted away valuables, including foodstuffs and handsets.
Police authorities in Zamfara State have not confirmed the incident, as the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, did not respond to call and SMS sent to him.
