The former Member of the House of Representatives, Kabiru Yahayya Classic, has defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), to the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Zamfara State.

The former lawmaker announced his defection in Kaduna, after a meeting with the APC State Chairman, Tukur Danfulani, and the Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Political Organisation, Lawal Liman, as well as other Zamfara APC stakeholders.

Kabiru Yahayya Classic represented Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency between 2019 and 2023, under the umbrella of the PDP.

A statement by the APC said that Classic defected along with the PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the PDP LG Executives and 10 out of 11 PDP Ward Chairmen in Talata Mafara LGA.

According to the former lawmaker, “I defected from the PDP because there is no justice and fairness in the Zamfara State PDP chapter.”

“I, Kabiru Yahayya Classic, wish to announce my defection from the PDP to the All Progressive Party, the APC.”

“I am defecting with all PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the Local Government EXCO of the PDP and 10 out of 11 Ward Chairmen of the PDP.”

Classic, however, described the APC as a great party with justice and fairness.

Receiving the lawmaker, the state APC Chairman, Tukur Danfulani, described Classic’s defection as a welcome development for the party.

He disclosed that more defectors from the PDP government in Zamfara are ready to join the APC very soon.

Danfulani assured Kabiru Classic and all the defectors of fair treatment in the APC, adding that the APC has a great structure with good party internal democracy.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Senator Yari’s Political Organization, Lawal Liman, commended Kabiru Classic and the other defectors for joining the Progressives team.

Liman described the APC as the only party with a manifesto to move Zamfara and Nigeria forward.

The important personalities that attended the occasion included the former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Magarya, and the Zonal Coordinator, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Constituency Office, Sha’aya Sarkin-Fawa.

Others are former Zamfara Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Kabiru Balarabe, former commissioners, and former Local Government Sole Administrators.
