Kebbi Govt. Petitions CDS Over Recent Mera Attack

The Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, has sent a powerful delegation to lodge a complaint with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa over incursion of a new Islamic sect known as Lakurawa into the state.

This is contained in a Statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Ahmed Idris made available to Journalists in BirninKebbi.

The statement says, Governor Nasir who expressed dismay over the ugly attack, sympathised with the family of the victims, people of Augie, Argungu Emirate and the state at large.

He promised the readiness of his administration to continue to partner with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies towards protecting the lives and property of people of the state.

The sect had on Friday, Nov. 7, 2024, attacked and killed 15 people at a Mera Community in Augie Local Government Area of the Kebbi state.

The delegation was led by the former Governor of Kebbi State and Minister of Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu and others.

They intimated the CDS of the need for immediate action to bring an end to the current security challenge facing not only Kebbi State but the country at large.

They appreciated the military as well as other security agencies for supporting the state in addressing the security challenges bedeviling the state.

The Chief of Defence Staff assured the delegation of the readiness of the military to intervene with a view to arresting the perpetrators and bring them to book.

He also assured the state that the military would join hands with other security agencies in safeguarding the state.
