The Bayelsa state government has given assurance that efforts are being made in collaboration with security agencies to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped 80-year-old mother of the secretary to the state government Madam Bettina Benson.
Briefing journalists shortly after the eleventh security council meeting presided over by Governor Douye Diri, Special Adviser on Security Matters to the State Governor, Akpoebi Akporebi, and the state Police Commissioner, Mike Okoli, said all necessary apparatus have been deployed to ensured she is safely reunited with her family.

They also urged residents to be security-conscious and alert any form of security threats and suspicious movement around their environment as government was committed to sustaining peace in the state.
The octogenarian was abducted this week Tuesday at about 7pm by unidentified gunmen dressed in military camouflage at her residence at the Old Legislative Quarters in Yenagoa, the state capital.
