Enugu Police Arrest Killers Of Ogbete Market Leader

Police in Enugu State, South East Nigeria, have arrested two suspects linked to the murder of the Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders Association (OMMATA), Stephen Aniagu.

The suspects, identified as 28-year-old Chukwudi Aboshi, a native of Anike in Ikwo Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, and Ani Innocent Ebuka, also known as “Excellent,” a driver from Isigwe-Ugbawka in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, were apprehended in Akwuke, Awkunanaw, Enugu South LGA.

The Police spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, told Journalists that the arrests occurred between November 8 and 9, 2024 and during interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.

Investigator claim that an Android phone and other items believed to be charms were recovered from the suspects.

The slain Market leader, Stephen Aniagu was attacked and killed on the evening of September 14, 2024, by suspected assailants at Topland area, along Amechi Road, Enugu city, while the attackers also stole the blue Toyota Corolla car he was driving.

The tragic incident sent shockwaves across the State and beyond, leaving the Ogbete Main Market community in mourning.
