13th Annual Zik Lecture Series holds in Anambra State

Unity of purpose for African leaders, the emulation of the philosophy and selfless leadership style of the late Nnamdi Azikiwe, remain veritable tools for achieving an inclusive and sustainable development across Africa.

These were the views canvassed by Speakers at the 13th Zik Lecture Series held on Saturday at the Auditorium of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria.

African Union’s High Representative for Silencing the Guns, Mohamed Ibn Chambas had a direct message for leaders within the African continent.

He said a collective approach to tackling corruption, insecurity, poverty and other social vices are key key to a better African continent and the well being of her people.

Speaking on the theme; Zik’s Legacies and The Rising Social Movements in Africa: Rethinking Regional Integration In Africa, the former Special Representative of UN Secretary General, and President of ECOWAS saw industrialization as a way to achieving sustainable socio-economic development of Nigeria and Africa in general.

The Enugu State Governor who doubled as the Chairman of the occasion, Peter Mbah believes that regional integration, unity among leaders, remain the way forward for attaining economic growth and infrastructure development across Africa.

The Benefactor, Senator Ben Obi thanked the guest speakers and expressed appreciation to other guests, while giving a commitment to continue to support the Annual Zik Lecture Series x-raying the Life and times of the late pan African leader, Owelle Nnamdi Azikiwe.

Born in 1904, the late Nnamdi Azikiwe in whose memory the annual Zik Lecture Series was instituted, would have marked his 120th birthday on Saturday if he did not die on the 11th of May 1996.
