PM Modi arrives Nigeria on first leg of three-nation visit

Indian prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived Nigeria in the early hours of sunday on the first leg of his three-nation visit at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This visit is the first by an Indian prime minister to Nigeria in 17 years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odimegwu-Ojukwu

President Tinubu, in a post on X, said during the visit of the indian PM, bilateral discussions to expand the strategic partnership between both countries and enhance cooperation in critical sectors will be discussed.

Ealier Nigeria and India signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the areas of Cultural Exchange, Survey Cooperation, and Customs as strategics aimed at deepening bilateral relations.

The agreements were signed in Abuja by Nigeria’s Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dumoma Ahmed, and Indian Secretary for Economic Relations, Dammu Ravi.

Ambassador Ahmed described the Memoranda of Understanding as symbols of the shared vision between the two nations that reflect their commitment to growth, innovation, and sustainable development.
