Edo Lawmakers Call On Gov Okpebholo To Tackle Insecurity In The State

Edo State House of Assembly has called the attention of Governor Monday Okpebholo to the high level of insecurity in parts of the state.

The House decried increasing issues of kidnapping and wanton killings and wants the state government to as a matter of urgency, look into them

At the resumption of plenary, the lawmakers led by Blessing Agbebaku, deliberated on matters of urgent public importance, which border on insecurity.

The member representing Etsako East Constituency, Kingsley Ugabi, drew the attention of the house to the level of insecurity in his constituency. He urged the state government and relevant security agencies to take urgent steps to tackle the rising cases of kidnapping for ransom and organ harvesting in the state.

Ugabi further recommended that families of victims who have lost their lives to recent insecurity issues be compensated and the payment of medical expenses for those who have been hospitalised. The lawmaker also called for the rebuilding of a police station in Agenebode, which was burnt by irate youths.

After much deliberations and resolutions, the Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku directed the Clerk to send copies of the resolutions to the Governor for urgent action.
