The Nigeria Police Trust Fund says more support and resources will be channelled to the Kano State Police Command and the Police Academy, Wudil, for effective service delivery.
The Executive Secretary, NPTF Mohammed Sheidu, disclosed this when he visited the state, as part of the Fund’s ongoing nationwide facility tour in collaboration with the House Committee on Police Affairs.
Speaking on the proposed support for the Academy, the Executive Secretary said the Nigerian Police Trust Fund has recognised the importance of backing institutions such as the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, to achieve its mandate.
On his part, the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Abubakar Sadiq, appealed for more support, through the provision of utility vehicles and alternative sources of energy, which currently cost the academy about N11 monthly.
A five-day training of officers of the Kano State Police command on kidnapping, hostage negotiation and ransom course was flagged off by the Executive Secretary.
The training was aimed at equipping them on the global best practices of dealing with the issues that are bedevilling some parts of the country.
