Illegal Oil Bunkering : Abia NSCDC Bursts Cartel

The Nigerian Security and civil defense corps, NSCDC, Abia State command has arrested two suspects operating an illegal refinery with large quantities of crude oil suspected to be tapped from a vandalized nearby pipeline

The Abia State Commandant of NSCDC, Akinsola Aderemi, who led a crack squad to Isiala Ihie in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of the State, explained that investigations will be carried out to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the illegal business which poses a serious threat to the nation’s economy.

During a sting operation, large quantities of petroleum products in various stages of processing suspected to be tapped from a nearby vandalized oil pipeline were seized by the command.

The crack squad unit of the command arrested two suspects, a Male and a Female in the forest of Isiala Ihie community where a cleverly hidden illegal refinery was uncovered.

Abia State Commandant of NSCDC, Akinsola Aderemi, told journalists in Umuahia that further investigations would be carried out to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the sabotage which poses a serious threat to the nation’s economy.

The NSCDC Boss reaffirms commitment to effectively checkmating criminal elements in Abia State and beyond but advised the public to desist from all illegal activities or face the full wrath of the law.

He appealed to the public to collaborate with the NSCDC by providing credible intelligence that would aid the arrest of criminal minded persons and ensure that the State remains safe and secure for all law-abiding citizens.
