No fewer than 1,500 patients with capital-intensive surgical-related health issues have undergone free operations at the Kontagora General Hospital in Niger State.

The surgeries include about 200 cataracts and the provision of about 1,000 free medicated eyeglasses, among others.

55-year-old Fatima Muhammed, who has been living with cataracts for more than 3 years without a solution due to the financial implications, was among the beneficiaries of the free medical and surgical outreach carried out by the Sani Bello Foundation, in collaboration with the Graceland Health Development Foundation.

After the successful surgery, Muhammed can now see well, and she expressed gratitude to the foundation.

Other beneficiaries of different surgeries, while expressing happiness, called on other wealthy individuals to emulate the humanitarian gesture, especially with the current economic challenges.

The Chairman of the Sani Bello Foundation and former Military Governor of Kano State, Colonel Sani Bello, described the outreach as a meaningful way to mark his 82nd birthday against throwing a party.

Other speakers believe that with collaborative efforts, healthcare challenges can be tackled.

The five-day free healthcare services addressed a wide range of medical conditions, including fibroids, appendicitis, goiter, lumps, hernia, hydrocele, and eye-related diseases.
