There is palpable tension in Kano as security operatives, blocked the entrance and roads leading in and out of the Palace of Emir Sanusi the second.

This action prevented Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from attending a royal event in Bichi local government area where he was said to be scheduled to present staff of office to the District head.

Some persons who declined speaking to ait.live said the Emir Sanusi was, however, asked to remain indoors by heavily armed security operatives while the entrance to the Palace was also blocked by armoured personnel carrier vehicles.

Another person close to the palace hints on condition of anonymity that there is a planned summit by the emir and some key players in the State to discuss and take a position with regard to the current Tax Reform Bills currently in contention before the national assembly.

There are reports yet to be independently verified by ait.live that venue of the event, which Emir Sanusi II, was scheduled to attend in Bichi has also been condoned off by security operatives.

At the time of this preliminary report, the Emir Sanusi was seen around the courtyard of the palace on his horse, as the people paid homage to him.

None is willing to speak, mobil phones of some locals trying to record the armed police men were seized.

ait.live is not yet able to verify where the orders barricading the palace is coming from.
