NNPCL Takes Labor Leaders on Tour of Port Harcourt Refinery

In a bid to show them the progress made in the rehabilitation of Port Harcourt Refinery, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) , Monday took labor leaders, including the presidents of the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) on a tour of the facility.

NNPCL’s Executive Vice President, Downstream, Isiyaku Abdullahi, explained that the visit was to keep stakeholders updated on the rehabilitation of the refinery.

He said the idea was to show Nigerians that they are committed to making the refinery work.

The Managing Director of the Port Harcourt Refinery, Ibarahum Onoja who conducted the tour, assured the visitors that the plant was up and running, with equipment upgraded to ensure optimal performance.

The labor leaders, including NLC President Joe Ajaero, TUC President Festus Osifo, and NUPENG President Williams Akporeha, expressed satisfaction with the progress made and commended the NNPCL for its efforts at reviving the refinery.

The visit comes on the heels of NNPCL’s earlier invitation to Nigerians to visit the refinery and see the progress made.

The company has insisted that the old Port Harcourt Refinery is up and running, with products being sent to the market.
