One person was feared killed while scores were injured following a clash between Fulani herdsmen and youths in Lano village in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.
The conflict which was confirmed in a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, said that the incident occurred on Saturday, when youths from the community reportedly barricaded the Lano Deba Road and attacked herdsmen crossing from Kuri village killing five of their cows.
The police spokesman said the community youths accused the herdsmen of seizing phones from local farmers and obstructing the transportation of farm produce. Abdullahi however, assured residents that normalcy had been restored to the area, with security personnel and vigilantes patrolling to ensure the safety of villagers, herdsmen, and road users.
