Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has advised that politics should be solely about attending to the needs of the people and not about patronage to a few groups or individuals, adding that the purpose of government is to put smiles on the faces of the people.

Speaking at the commissioning of a road project in Obio Akpor Local Government Area, Governor Fubara also stated that every government must provide services and protect lives and property irrespective of political affiliations.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara who was at Rumuolumeni community in Obio Akpor Local Government Area in continuation of the State’s harvest of projects, said he was there to deliver another road project to the people.

Before now, the popular Okocha road and other roads in the community were deplorable, prompting the Commissioner for Works, Elloka Tasie-Amadi, to tag the community as a ‘symbol of neglect.’

Happy that his administration has again attended to the needs of a community once neglected, Governor Fubara noted that he strongly believes that politics should be solely about the happiness of the people.

While assuring the people of many more projects to come, the Rivers State Governor also discloses that the projects will not be limited to roads alone.

A leader of the State and former Federal lawmaker, Senator John Azuta-Mbata inaugurated the project, where he commended Governor Fubara for leading a people-oriented government.

Senator Mbata further called on the people to cherish the State and refrain from actions capable of jeopardizing its peace, unity, and progress.
