Senate receives nominations for two Development Commissions

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to screen and confirm the appointments of 14 nominees for the positions of Chairman, Managing Director/CEO, and members of the Commission’s Board

President Tinubu says the nominations are in line with the provisions outlined in Part 1, Section 2(3)(a) of the North-West Development Commission (Establishment) Act, 2024.

The request was read by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio during plenary session on Tuesday.

The nominees are:

  1. Lawal Samai’la Abdullahi – Chairman (Jigawa)
  2. Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe – Member (Sokoto)
  3. Aminu Suleiman – Member (Kebbi)
  4. Ja’afar Abubakar Sadeeq – Member (Zamfara)
  5. Yahaya Aminu Abdullahi – Member (Kaduna)
  6. Muhammad Ali Wudil – Member (Kano)
  7. Shamsu Sule – Member (Katsina)
  8. Nasidi Ali – Member (Jigawa)
  9. Chukwu Chijioke – Member (Abia)
  10. Ahmed Mohammed – Member (Taraba)
  11. Ahmed Rufai Timasaniyu – Member (Kogi)
  12. Macdonalds Michael Uyi – Member (Edo)
  13. Babatunde Dada – Member
  14. Prof. Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji – MD/CEO (Kano)

President Tinubu has also asked the Senate to screen and confirm 18 nominees for positions, of Chairman, Managing Director, Executive Directors, and members of the Governing Board of South-East Development Commission.

The nominations, as outlined by the President, comply with the provisions of Part-1, Section 2(2)(a) of the South-East Development Commission (Establishment) Act, 2024, as amended.

The Senate has agreed to form an ad hoc committee to carry out the screening process.

The nominees are:

  1. Dr. Emeka Nworgu – Chairman
  2. Mark C. Okoye – MD/CEO
  3. Ugochukwu H. Agballah – Member
  4. Okey Ezenwa – Member
  5. Hyacinth Ikpor – Member
  6. Chidi Echeazu – Member
  7. Dr. Ifeanyi Agwu – Member
  8. Nasiru Usman – Member
  9. Hamma Adama Ali Kumo – Member
  10. Edward David Onoja – Member
  11. Orure Kufre Inima – Member
  12. Daniel Akwari – Member
  13. Joke Adebayo Chukwuma – Member
  14. Stanley Ohajuruka – Executive Director, Finance
  15. Sylvester Okonkwo – Executive Director, Corporate Services
  16. Toby Okechukwu – Executive Director, Projects
  17. Senator Anthony Agbo – Executive Director, Commercial and Industrial Development
  18. Dr. Clifford Ogbede – Executive Director, Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Rural Development
