President Bola Tinubu has sent heartfelt congratulations to elder statesman and renowned professor of Mathematics, Iya Abubakar on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

President Tinubu commends Senator Abubakar for his services to his fatherland at different times in his career, acknowledging his achievements in the academia where he made foundational contributions to the fields of Mathematics and Computer Science.

The president added that Prof Abubakar has maintained a dignified life in retirement, resorting to mentorship and counselling of the younger ones and those seeking his wisdom and experience.
The educationist and one-time vice chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria was Minister of Defence in the Second Republic.
He also served as Senator representing Adamawa North between 1999 and 2007.
