Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has said that the Obio Akpor Local Government Area, where his immediate predecessor hails from, will continue to enjoy a pride of place under his administration.
The Governor disclosed that his administration is already demonstrating its love for the people of the Council Area through the provision of vital infrastructure, like the construction of the first General Hospital, the upgrading of the Psychiatric Hospital and the construction of a modern Palace for the traditional ruler of Akpor Kingdom.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new Palace for the traditional ruler of the Apara Kingdom in the Obio Akpor Local Government Area, Governor Fubara urged the people to, in return, support his administration by being peaceful and law-abiding
Governor Siminalayi Fubara accompanied by the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Abasi Otu the fifth, arrived the community to commission the newly built Palace of the Eze Oha Apara, Chike Worlu-Wodo who doubles as the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional rulers.

The project had for several years suffered setbacks until Governor Fubara finally decided to see to its completion.
The Governor wants the people to own and protect the palace as their identity and traditional heritage.
Fubara told the mammoth crowd that had come to witness the occasion that Obio-Akpor as a whole will continue to occupy a prominent position under his watch.

Inaugurating the new Palace, the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi the Fifth, commended the Rivers State Governor Similaye Fubara for the giant strides recorded by his administration and for uplifting the traditional institution in Rivers State.
The Monarch also showed solidarity with Governor Fubara on his political travails, and urged him not to be distracted by the actions of his enemies.
