Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has come hard on Chairmen of the 13 Local Government Councils in the State, directing them to pay all outstanding workers’ salaries and pensions before 2.00 pm of Monday, December 23, 2024.

The Governor gave the ultimatum on Sunday during a Christmas event organised by the State Government at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki.

A statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and seen by AIT.live, noted that the Governor frowned at the situation of delayed salaries and pensions of staff of Local Government, describing it as worrisome while insisting on delivery of good governance anchored on the Peoples Charter of Needs Agenda.

Governor Nwifuru assured that his administration will not allow itself to be sabotaged in the cause of executing the social contract with the people.

“By 2pm tomorrow, all the staff of the Local Government should receive their salaries and pensions.

“We are determined to deliver good governance to our people. If you are for us, you join us in what we are doing, if you are not, you leave.

“If by 2 pm tomorrow, Staff are not paid October and November salaries, the Chairmen should resign”, the Governor insisted.

In another cheering development, Governor Nwifuru has approved the immediate payment of N50,000, and provision of 25kg bag of rice and wrapper, to each of the 5,000 widows and elders who were hosted to a Christmas party by the State Government.
