Edo State Commissioner of Police, Ozigi Umoru has warned groups and event organizers to ensure they involve the police or other security agencies henceforth.
This warning follows recent stampedes during distribution of food and other gift items leading to avoidable deaths in some parts of the country.
A press release made available to journalists on Monday by the command’s public relations officer, Joel Yamu, says the command had in a proactive manner called on government officials, community leaders, religious bodies, and non-governmental organizations to collaborate with the state command for comprehensive and organized way of distributing palliatives.
Yamu assures the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property at all times.
