Five South East Governors Pledge Support In Fight Against Insecurity

Governors of the five South East states in Nigeria say they will continue to collaborate with relevant authorities to address the security challenges facing the region.

The governors also assured the people of the region that adequate security measures have been put in place for those intending to travel home during the yuletide.

These assurances were announced by the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, during his monthly media chat in Umuahia where he also presented operational vehicles to security agencies in the state.

Most people in South East Nigeria have continued to express worries over the increasing spate of kidnappings and other violent crimes in the region.

The people also expressed concerns over the increasing number of roadblocks mounted by men of the Nigerian army and other security agencies.

The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, however wants southeasterners to have faith in government as efforts are ongoing by the governors of the five states in the region to ensure security and safety of people and their property, particularly during the Christmas and New Year period.

Governor Alex Otti presented 20 brand new operational vehicles to security agencies in the state to enable them to maintain order and ensure the safety of citizens.

The commander, 14 brigades of Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Brigadier General Diya alongside other heads of security agencies in the state thanked the governor for the gesture and assured citizens of the state that adequate security will be provided during the period but appealed to them to corporate with law enforcement agencies.
