Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed that the sacrifices of soldiers injured while defending the country’s territorial integrity will not go unrecognised.

Lieutenant -General Oluyede who said this during a special Christmas luncheon organised to honour wounded soldiers for their selfless service said the Nigerian Army and the country deeply appreciate their bravery and commitment.

The luncheon, organised by the Chief of Army Staff, provided a solemn and unique opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifices of 289 soldiers wounded in action within the area of responsibility of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army Kaduna.

This event was aimed at commending their gallantry and the critical role they played in ensuring the safety and security of the region. Delivering the Chief of Army Staff’s message, the Commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, Major-General Marcus Kangye, expressed gratitude to the wounded soldiers for their unwavering commitment and bravery in defending the country’s territorial integrity.

He assured them that their welfare remains a top priority and the Nigerian Army is dedicated to winning all land battles and protecting the country’s territory, emphasising the importance of collaboration in a joint and multi-agency operational environment.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Armed Forces has reiterated its commitment to strengthening civil-military relations as a means to address ongoing security challenges across Nigeria.

This was emphasised by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Defence Headquarters, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, during a Christmas concert organised to honour troops in the frontline.

The Christmas concert, tagged “Tribute to Troops 3.0”, was part of the Armed Forces’ civil-military relations efforts to recognise and honour the sacrifices of frontline soldiers and their families.

The event featured electrifying performances, with legendary musician Daddy Showkey as the headline act, delivering nostalgic hits that enlivened the atmosphere.

Rear Admiral Abbas described the concert as part of the military’s non-kinetic approach to addressing the country’s security challenges by fostering goodwill and community engagement.

Other speakers at the concert echoed similar sentiments, emphasising that no effort is too great to honour the troops who enable the relative peace enjoyed by Nigerians at home.
