World Peace Day : Catholic Archbishop Adewale Martins Sues for Peace Calls For Masses Friendly Policies

The Catholic archbishop of Lagos, Reverend Adewale Martins

The Catholic archbishop of Lagos, Reverend Adewale Martins has called on Nigerian government to go beyond palliatives and put policies in place that would ameliorate the suffering of the masses.

Adewale who was speaking in commemoration of the 58th world day of Peace also urged the government to follow all the steps aligned by the Pope to achieve global peace.

World peace day is marked first of January every year. It was inaugurated by the Catholic Church 58 years ago for the establishment of peace in a world full of crises.

With the 2025 theme of “forgive us our trespasses,Grant is peace” the Pope is seeking avenues to promote world peace through the following options, removal of capital punishment from the law books of all nations, the establishment of global funds to support poorer nations and debt cancellation.

Speaking on the recent stampedes that claimed lives of many people, archbishop Adewale martins urged government to look beyond palliatives to implementation of policies that would reduce hardship

He commended Nigerians for their resilience in the past years while encouraging them to translate such resilience into hope for the future.
