Unidentified gunmen attack Odo-Ape community in Kogi State, killing two farmers

At least two people were killed on friday morning when yet to be identified gunmen invaded Odo-Ape community in Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi State.

The two slain farmers identified as Mr. Black, a Tiv man, and Sunday Aiyedero, were said to be working on their farms when the gunmen shot and killed them.

Earlier on Saturday morning, some aggrieved youths of Odo-Ape staged a protest, blocking the federal highway running through the community and demanded immediate action from the government to address the escalating security crisis in the community.

It took the Intervention of security agencies to clear the highway leading from Odo-Ape to Obajana-Lokoja after several hours.

Some residents of Odo-Ape community who described the attack on farmers as worrisome, appealed to government to beef up security in the area.

The Chairman, Kabba-Bunu local government, Zacchaeus Dare, in a statement signed by his media aide, Omofa John, assured the people of Odo-Ape community that security will be stepped up to allow peace to return the community.

The Kabba-Bunu local government chairman also assured that all those behind the incessant killings in Odo Ape will not go unpunished.

Senator Sunday Karimi condemned the gruesome attacks on Odo Ape and assured the people that efforts will be made to prevent further attacks.

The police in Kogi State is yet to make any official statement on the attack on Odo-Ape community.
