The Oyo State High Court has adjourned till January 13  hearing on the bail application of organisers of the ill-fated funfair that claimed the lives of 35 children in Ibadan.

Justice K. B. Olawoyin, presiding over Court 8 of the Oyo State High Court, Ring Road, Ibadan, has fixed the date to deliver his ruling on the bail application filed by Ooni of Ife’s ex-queen, Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, and Abdulahi Fasasi.

Hamzat is the proprietor of Agidigbo FM, an Ibadan-based radio station, while Fasasi is the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.

They are currently standing trial over the stampede which occurred during a Christmas funfair at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, in December 2024.

Counsels to the three defendants argued that the magistrate’s court lacks the jurisdiction to order the accused’s remand.

Oyo State Attorney General Abiodun Aikomo said it would amount to contempt of court to speak on the matter as the hearing on the bail application has been adjourned.
