The Nigeria Police has arrested one Daniel Dankulubi for allegedly sexually assaulting a three year old girl in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya, who confirmed the arrest said the incident took place at a bakery around Ganaja junction in Lokoja.
Incidences of sexual assaults and rape have taken a new twist in Kogi State in the last two years with most of the cases either not reported or under reported for fear of stigmatization.
The case of this Minor alleged to have been sexually assaulted by the suspect who is now in Police custody is coming at a time when the VAPP law is in forced in Kogi State.

Narrating the incident, Amina Abdulazeez, Mother of the victim said the suspect attempted to escape from the Bakery but for people around who assisted her to hold him down until the police arrived at the scene.
Some of the residents said this is not the first time the suspect is committing such crime.
The Kogi State Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA Oluwakemi Salami, condemned the alarming spate of sexual assault and rape in Kogi State.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya, said the suspect has been transferred to the Command Headquarters for further investigations.
