President Buhari’s village, Durmukul now Daura Emirate District

The Katsina State House of Assembly has approved the creation of the Durmukul District in the Daura Emirate of the state.

Durmukul, is President Muhammadu Buhari’s ancestral village, located in the Daura Local Government Area of Katsina state.
The House of Assembly gave the approval at an emergency plenary presided by the speaker, Tasiu Maigari, after the House leaders, Abubakar Abukur, and Mustapha Rabe representing Mai’adua Local Government Area, sponsored the motion which was unanimously endorsed by the House.

Rabe, while presenting the motion said, the move followed a request from Governor Aminu Masari, in line with section 7, subsection 1 and 2 of the Katsina State Local Government Law 2000 as amended, seeking for the creation.

After a lengthy deliberation, the Speaker directed the clerk of the House to communicate the resolution to the executive arm for further action
The Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Hussaini said, the creation of another district marks a milestone in the traditional and political development of the state.


The Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk had last Friday, hinted President Buhari of plans by the Emirate to create a district to honour him, during his visit to the palace last week.
