NSCDC Taraba State Command Tasks citizens on protection of public property

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has charged citizens on their roles on the protection of critical National Assets, and providing relevant authorities with information on the destruction or vandalization of such Assets.

The Corps Commandant in Taraba State Anthony Bitrus made the call while parading suspects engaged in vandalization of public property, and Economic sabotage in the State.

The clampdown on criminal activities involving the vandalization of critical National Assets by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Taraba has led to the apprehension of several suspects.

These three suspects paraded by the Corps were arrested for the theft of 170 iron rods meant for the ongoing expansion and renovation work at the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo the State capital.

The mastermind of the crime is a labourer at the reconstruction site.

The Corps also arrested 1 suspect for phone theft, and two others for the vandalization of power transmission cables, with the suspects confessing to having an electricity distribution company staff as their accomplice.

Commandant Anthony Bitrus said the clampdown on criminals who undermine national cohesion and trust, by vandalising public property is providing the expected results.

Bitrus also charged citizens to step up in their responsibilities of reporting suspicious persons.

He went further to drop a phone contact that Taraba citizens can call in times of emergencies.

The Taraba NSCDC Commandant also commended the good working relationship it enjoys with other sister security agencies in the State.
