Barely a week after a tanker explosion rocked Dikko junction in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, killing about 100 persons, another incident has occurred on the Agaie – Lapai road of the State
Confirming the incident, the Spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, said the lone fuel tanker explosion involved a vehicle with Reg. No. DKA 03 A, was driven by one Shamsudeen Dayabu of Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State on transit from Lagos to Kaduna and loaded with about 40,000 litres of PMS.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 27.
According to him, no life was lost in the accident, though the road was temporarily closed for safety precautions, but normalcy was later restored for road users.
ait.live gathered that the Tanker fully loaded with the highly inflatable petrol product the on reaching the Kusogbogi area of Agaie, lost control due to a burst front tyre and fell into a roadside drainage, resulting in a fire explosion.
The driver and his motor boy were said to have sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
