About 30 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday stormed the office of the Department of State Services (DSS) located at Magodo area of Lagos, following the invitation of two members, Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu and Hon. Lanre Afinni for questioning.

The invitation to the State lawmakers may not be unconnected with the recent removal from office of the former House Speaker, Mudasiru Obasa on 13th January, 2025 while he was away on vacation abroad.

The embattled former Speaker reportedly wrote a petition to the DSS questioning the process of his removal.

In a statement released by members of the State House of Assembly and signed by Ogundipe Olukayode on behalf of the House, explained that the visit of the legislators to the Lagos Command of the Department of State Services was to provide insights into the situation on the removal of the ex speaker, Mudasiru Obasa.

The members stated that their action of sack of Obasa is constitutional and in the interest of the people of Lagos State which was carried out through a democratic process citing Sections 92 and 96 of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which outline the process of election and removal of the Speaker of a legislative House.

All the members earlier detained by the DSS, have regained their freedom, the Press statement explained.
