The Kaduna State government, through its Internal Revenue Service, (KADIRS), has sealed United Nigerian Textiles Limited, (UNTL), due to substantial revenue liabilities, totalling N1.2 billion.

Aisha Ahmed, the Executive Board Secretary of KADIRS, made this known to reporters, during an enforcement operation in Kaduna.

During the operation at the UNTL facility, located in Kakuri Makera, Ahmed emphasised that the significant tax and revenue liabilities, were primarily comprised of overdue taxes owed to KADIRS, ground rent, fees for the Kaduna State Geographic Information Service, (KADGIS), fire service, the State Emergency Management Authority, (KADSEMA), Environmental Protection and Impact Assessment, (KEPA), business premises fees for the Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology, (MBIT), among other state taxes and revenue.

Ahmed further explained the rationale behind sealing the facility, noting that the property owners were attempting to relocate to an undisclosed location.

The Internal Revenue Service had obtained a court order to effect the immediate closure, and to take control of the property until all outstanding land-based revenue liabilities are resolved.
