Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has empowered 150 women in Bauchi State with comprehensive training on good agricultural practices, through Federal Government’s Women Agricultural Support Programme, (WASP).

According to the president’s wife, the programme is part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope initiative aimed at promoting food security, economic growth, and sustainable development.

She further said that the programme is about fostering community resilience, reducing poverty and ensuring that every household has access to nutritious food.

The 150 participants were trained by experts on sustainable agricultural practices, soil management and conservation practices, integrated pest management, post-harvest management, entrepreneurship, market access and record keeping, with a special focus on home garden initiatives.

Representing the president’s wife, Oluremi Tinubu, during the training, Bauchi State governor’s wife, Aisha Bala said the programme underscores the collective commitment to women empowerment, through sustainable agriculture, and economic transformation in Bauchi State.

Each beneficiary is expected to receive agricultural starter inputs worth N100,000, including high-quality seeds, fertiliser, pesticides and a cash grant of N100,000 to support their agricultural endeavours.
